01Between a cleaver and a chef knife · 16 pieces
Sixteen forged Serbian blades, most of them sheathed, in white, black and silver handles.
The Serbian chef knife is a shape from the Balkans rather than Japan, and it earns its place in a Japanese range because it does something none of the other blades here do well. It is short, tall and heavy, with a straight edge and a squared front, so it will take a joint apart and then work on a board without you swapping knives. If your Sunday involves a whole chicken and then a pile of vegetables, this is the knife that covers both.
Thirteen of the sixteen sit on the butcher shelf, which is where the weight belongs, and the rest arrive inside kits. Almost all of them ship with a sheath, several in leather, because a heavy short blade with a thin edge is exactly the thing a drawer damages. The prices run from $29.99 to $125.40, and the top of that range is a multi-piece kit rather than one very expensive knife.
3 blade lengths, each one a link to the card that carries it.
3 handle colours, named from our own product data rather than read off a photograph.

03Asked before ordering
What people ask us about serbian chef knives before they pick one.
Taking a joint apart and then chopping on a board without changing knives. It is heavy enough at the front to go through a chicken back and flat enough along the edge to work vegetables afterwards. It is not a slicer and it is not a paring knife.
Close, but not the same. A cleaver is a rectangle built to chop through. The Serbian blade tapers to a point, so it will also start a cut and follow a seam. If you only want one heavy knife, this is the one that covers more ground.
Heavier than the chef knife you own now, and buyers say so unprompted. The weight is the working principle: you lift it and let it fall, which asks less of your wrist than pressing. It is the first thing people used to a light stamped knife notice.
One button, the whole Huusk range
Every blade length, steel and piece count in the Huusk lineup sits behind this button, with the current price beside it. Pick the job, check the blade against the board you own, and it ships from our retail partner.
